Case Study: The Academy, Manchester

Project Description
After the construction of a new hotel in central Manchester the client underwent a re-brand. Willian UK was contracted to upgrade all the existing hotel rooms and reception areas. On the top floor of the hotel Willian created an executive conference facility named "The Academy". Solid cherry hardwood paneling and bespoke joinery items were used to create an ambient feel. An unusual feature of this project was a four-hole putting green on the roof terrace with timber decking and modern outside furniture, providing an "Al-fresco" dining area for clients using the conference rooms. Project Description
This is another a Willian UK flagship contract - we were successful in winning the tender for this project after other contractors only submitted tenders for a 28 week program. Willian completed the project in 16 weeks allowing the client to continue with their rapidly expanding development program. As the site was within the grounds of Walton High School, health and safety was of utmost importance, controlling safe site access for both contractors and supplier deliveries was successfully achieved without disrupting the student's daily routines. Case Study: The Swan, Cumbria

Project Description
This project involved a major refurbishment of a four star hotel in the Lake District. The challenge Willian UK undertook was to complete works on two restaurants (170 covers), two bars and three function/conference rooms within sixteen weeks as the hotel had to cease trading - so the goal was to get the hotel re-opened as soon as possible. This was achieved by detailed project management to successfully phase the works, including coordinating all subcontractors and client direct suppliers. Project Description
By utilising five of the hotels smaller bedrooms and circulation areas we created treatment rooms with a relaxation area and a stunning reception/display entrance. With the application of specialist Venetian plastering to give a luxurious continental feeling, complimented by Italian tiled floors and solid oak fitted furniture, the development has given the hotel an exciting new client base. The adjoining bedroom was also converted to allow VIP guests en-suite access to the complete spar experience. View gallery images.

Case Study: Holiday Inn Reception, Manchester

Project Description
As part of the re-branding of the hotel a new entrance and restaurant overflow area was required. With minimal disruption to the running of the hotel we built two separate glazed extensions to the front elevation. One to be utilised as a restaurant area when the hotel is operating to capacity, the other to provide a duty managers office and new main hotel entrance, both were fitted with air conditioning and linked to the hotels existing fire alarm system. The glazed electronic sliding entrance doors provided the finishing touch to this excellent project. View gallery images.

Our client demanded the highest standards and wanted the best materials to produce their £1m+ dream home in the North West. Ricky Lee, Contracts Manager, took the project on and managed to successfully deliver the house of our clients dreams within the 11 month timeframe, and more importantly on budget. He said: "This was a completely unique build, using all of our expertise to complete the project on time and budget. Project Description
When Shrewsbury Town Football Club opened their new stadium part of their requirement was to have a 3rd generation five-a-side football complex within its site. With an extremely tight timescale a modular building was the answer to their solution. The pavilion was constructed with brick slips and a profiled fascia to complement the construction of the new stadium. The trading area was fitted with seven plasma televisions to give a modern sports bar look, with excellent changing and shower facilities. View gallery images.

Project Description
This modular building was the ideal solution to a site within the grounds of a school. The site had environmental and planning issues which were overcome using versatile modular building techniques. Onsite time was greatly reduced which meant the school experienced minimal disruption and the school had full use of the site during the day. Externally the building is a combination of brick slips and cedar clad panels - alternatives can be a Plastisol finish or even Kingspan panels with a pitched or flat roof. Case Study: Lymmewood Farm Public House

Project Description
Willian UK’s part in this project was to undertake a complete fit-out of a new build public house constructed by Marshall’s Ltd. The external shell and roof were erected before hand-over to Willian UK. All the internal walls, both in the manager’s accommodation and the trading area, plus a traditional bar and carvery area and all the internal joinery works and an indoor children’s play area were Willian responsibilities.
